Looking for a different experience and adventure with your family or friends? Or you’re a teacher or school official who is looking for an entertaining yet educational venue for your students? Book a farm tour with us and get to know the processes involved in natural textile production—from collecting fiber and combing it to spinning or knitting it.
The fun element? You’ll get to meet and have some selfies with the cute and adorable animals in Steam Valley Mountain Fiber Farm.
Lasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, each standard tour costs only $15 (for adults) or $10 (for children under the age of 6) and includes the following activities:
- Walking tour around the farm
- Meet and greet with the animals and our staff
- A brief orientation about our daily tasks
- A demo on raw fiber processing
Our farm tour rate is on an individual basis. If you will avail of a tour for a group of 10 or more, the discounted rate per visitor is $10.
To book a farm tour with us, please call or email Kathleen Barrett for reservations. Our farm tours are scheduled from Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We hold regular monthly workshops on spinning, knitting, weaving, and dyeing in our farm. Learn the basics, materials and equipment needed, as well as tips on doing it right. Please contact us for the schedules and rates. We can also customize group workshops depending on skill level, age, and group size.
