Steam Valley Yarn is millspun from the fleeces produced by our Colored Angora Goats and sheep. The natural colors of the Mohair and wool fleeces are blended together to create yarns with luster, elasticity and natural beauty. Currently in production are our spring shorn fleeces that are being skirted and washed at the farm. Next, they will go to a regional mill to be carded and spun. This summer we will begin offering our new Mohair/Wool yarns in 4 different colors - Natural Black, Chestnut Brown, Silver and Cream. All fiber for Steam Valley's Yarn has been raised sustainably at our farm or other Pennsylvania farms. The fleeces have been hand selected for quality, often using kid and yearling Mohair, the finest of fleeces.
New sparkling rovings are here for Springtime. Turquoise, a yummy, soft blend of wool, Mohair & glitz. Returning by popular request is Copper Penny and her new cousin, Silver Dollar, a silver frosted blue. Visit our Mohair page to see these beauties.
The goats and sheep are eager to munch down the new tender grass. They race out dancing, singing, jumping and cavorting, each time the gate is open so they can party on the green. Visit the farm for our Annual Spring Farm Tour on May 5th!
